കടലുണ്ടിപുഴ അറേബ്യൻ സമുദ്രത്തോട് ചേരുന്ന അഴിമുഖങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നാണ് പരപ്പനങ്ങാടിയുടെ ചരിത്രം തുടങ്ങുന്നത്. മധ്യകാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ തെക്കുപടിഞ്ഞാറൻ തീരത്തെ പ്രധാന തുറമുഖങ്ങളിലൊന്നായിരുന്നു പരപ്പനങ്ങാടി. കോഴിക്കോട്ടും പരപ്പനങ്ങാടിയിലേയും മേധാവികളുടെ കീഴിൽ, മലബാർ തീരത്തെ ഒരു പ്രധാന കടൽ വ്യാപാര കേന്ദ്രമായി പരപ്പനങ്ങാടി വികസിച്ചു. ഈ വ്യാപാര വികസനം സാമൂതിരിയുടെ കാലത്ത് തന്നെ പരപ്പനങ്ങാടിയിൽ അറേബ്യൻ സാനിദ്ധ്യത്തിന്റെ തെളിവാണ്. അറബികൾക്കിടയിൽ ബാർബുറങ്കാട് എന്ന പേരിലാണ് പരപ്പനങ്ങാടിയെ അറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നത്. വ്യാപരത്തോടൊപ്പം അറബികൾ ഇസ്ലാമിക സംസ്കാരവും അറിവും പകർന്ന് നൽകിയതിന്റെ തെളിവാകാം ഒരു പക്ഷേ ഈ പ്രദേശത്ത് ധാരാളം പള്ളികളും പ്രാചീന മതപഠനശാലകളും കാണുന്നത്. എന്നിരുന്നാലും ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ഭരണം ഇന്ത്യൻ സംസ്കാരത്തിനേൽപ്പിച്ചക്ഷതം പരപ്പനങ്ങാടിയുടെ സംസ്കാരത്തിനും അഗാതമുണ്ടാക്കി.
അറേബ്യൻ സംസ്കാരത്തിന്റെ പിൻതുടർച്ച എന്നോണമാണ് 21ാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിന്റെ തുടക്കത്തിൽ പരപ്പനങ്ങാടിയിലേക്ക് ബുഖാരി സാദത്ത് തറവാട്ടിൽ നിന്ന് മുഹമ്മദ് നബി (സ്വ) യുടെ 39ാം പരമ്പരയുടെ കണ്ണി സയ്യിദ് അബ്ദുല്ല ഹബീബ് റഹ്മാൻ അൽ ബുഖാരി ജനങ്ങൾക്ക് അറിവ് പകരാൻ, സന്താപത്തിൽ സാന്ത്വനിപ്പിക്കാൻ, ഊണിലും ഉറക്കിലും അവരോട് കൂടെ നിൽക്കാൻ ഒരു നിയോഗമെന്നോണം പരപ്പനങ്ങാടിയിലേ മതപ്രബോധന നിരയിലേക്ക് നിയോഗിതനാവുന്നത് തങ്ങളുസ്താദിന്റെ വരവ് കേവലം മുദ്ദരി സ്റ്റായിരുന്നെങ്കിലും പരപ്പനങ്ങാടിയിലെ ജനഹൃദയങ്ങൾ ഏറ്റെടുക്കുന്നത് അവരിൽ ഒരാളായി അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അവർ തന്നെയായി അവരുടെ അവസാന വാക്ക് എന്നോണമാണ്. ആ ഏറ്റെടുപ്പാണ് പരപ്പനങ്ങാടിയുടെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ വിപ്ലവത്തിന് "സിൻസിയർ" എന്ന പേരിൽ തുടക്കമാവുന്നത്
